Estate Planning

About Estate Planning

Clear estate planning is a gift for those you leave behind – a chance to solve or even prevent problems. Count on CAFFERKY | RUSSO to:

  • Talk you out of expensive or unnecessary actions
  • Educate you about your current situation
  • Tailor a plan to fit your needs and goals

Planning in advance for your family and loved ones can help them avoid unnecessary problems that complicate and delay their ability to receive benefits – and sometimes even protections they are entitled to.

Why hire a lawyer for Estate Planning?

Professional estate planning ensures that the property you worked hard to acquire will go to whom you wish, in the manner and percentages you wish, instead of according to the default rules as set by the state lawmakers. Getting legal advice for estate planning can actually reduce or avoid expenses that deplete the value of the estate you pass on to your heirs.

There are several ways to accomplish your objectives based on your unique circumstances. Wills, a variety of trusts, different forms of property ownership, and insurance are just a few of the many tools to be weighed in discussion with your attorney. Additional tools are available if an intended beneficiary is currently, or expected to be, receiving Federal Benefits for a disability.

But is Estate Planning for me?

CAFFERKY | RUSSO offers a wide range of estate plan packages to meet your needs at every stage of life – from young couples primarily concerned with naming caretakers for their minor children, to established individuals considering Medicaid or Tax Planning.

Estate Planning packages include documents associated with end-of-life health and disability planning. Specifically, the Power of Attorney and Advance Directive pertain to what will happen to you and your affairs if you are incapacitated but not deceased. The Power of Attorney is a very powerful document, which applies to your financial affairs, living needs and personal needs as well as some medical decisions. The Advance Directive is a detailed document addressing your medical decisions. It allows you to appoint a decision-maker and give that person specific directions as to your care.
